Aragvi River, Georgia
We are working with Environment and Development (ED) in Georgia using the WEAP model developed by the Stockholm Environmental Institute (SEI) to help make informed decisions about water planning and management in light of land use changes and changes in water supply due to climate change in the basin. This project is funded by G4G/USAID. Our colleagues in Georgia are a fantastic group to work with and we look forward to the completion of this project and expansion of this modelling effort into other basins in Georgia. Our team member, Dr. Sam Sandoval was able to visit them in Georgia this spring to help them get the model off the ground and the rest of our team hope to travel to Georgia later in the year. One of the goals of this project is to develop a water planning modelling framework that can then be extended to other basins in Georgia. I met our good friend Kakha while he was visiting UC Davis last year as a Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow and I was directing the program.
